Half boot | Reverse frisone
A half boot of quiet authority — close-cut through the ankle, resolute in its simplicity, and built to deepen in character over years of wear.
The upper is reverse frisone horse, a material prized for its dense, waxy nap and the way it responds to wear and light differently across each panel. Worn reverse-side out, the leather presents a subtly matte, almost suede-like surface that is firmer and more weather-resistant than it appears, developing a supple patina particular to the individual who wears it.
Blake stitched through a Rendenbach oak bark tanned sole — one of the last vegetable-tanned soles of its kind still produced in Germany — the construction keeps the boot lean and close to the foot. The all-leather lining, toepuff, heel counter, insole, stiffeners, and double sole are each selected and assembled by hand at Andrew McDonald's workshop in The Strand Arcade, Sydney. A rubber top piece may be added to the leather sole for an additional $60.
