The upper is cut from rosso overdyed horse, a firm, close-grained leather that carries depth of colour with a subdued lustre. Overdyeing lends the hide a richness that emerges gradually with wear, darkening at the toe and heel as the boot takes on its own character over time.
Blake stitched to an all-leather sole, with leather insole, heel, lining, and stiffeners throughout — no synthetic shortcuts. The backseam is finished with a hand-worked blanket stitch, a quiet detail visible only from behind. Made to order at Andrew McDonald's workshop at The Strand Arcade in Sydney. A rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for an additional $60.
