Fogey boot | Tan | reverse cordovan
The Fogey boot is a quietly assured silhouette — a straightforward, unadorned boot that earns its character through material and construction rather than detail.
The upper is cut from reverse cordovan, a horse leather worn flesh-side out to expose a subtly napped, matte surface that takes on depth and richness with wear. In tan, it begins warm and pale, darkening gradually at the creases and toe to tell an honest account of use. Reverse cordovan is a less familiar face of an already rare leather, and it rewards those who know what they are looking at.
Constructed using the Blake stitch method, the Fogey boot is built on a double sole of oak bark tanned leather — a sole, insole, heel, and lining all in full leather, with no shortcuts in the stack. Blake construction keeps the profile lean and close to the foot. Every pair is made at Andrew McDonald's workshop at The Strand Arcade in Sydney. A rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for $80.
