A blind lace derby boot with a lean, purposeful silhouette — the lacing concealed beneath a smooth placket, leaving a clean, unbroken line from throat to toe.

The upper is cut from horse culatta, a dense, waxy leather taken from the rump of the hide, prized for its tight grain and resistance to wear. An iron filing overdye has been worked across the surface, drawing out the leather's natural variations in tone and texture to produce a dirty khaki that will deepen and mottle with time and use. No two pairs will read quite the same.

Blake stitched to a double leather sole, the boot is assembled to order at Andrew McDonald's atelier in The Strand Arcade, Sydney. A rubber top piece may be added at the toe for $88.
