Chelsea boot iron filing stain | standard fit

The Chelsea boot has not required revision since the 1850s. Andrew McDonald's interpretation keeps faith with that logic — elastic-sided, laceless, clean in silhouette, with an almond toe that sits between the severe and the soft.

The upper is cut from culatta, the dense rump section of the hide where the grain is tightest and most consistent. Iron filing staining is a workshop process rather than a conventional dye: iron filings suspended in liquid oxidise against the leather's natural tannins, driving deep, uneven darks into the surface through chemical reaction rather than pigment. The result carries genuine variation — shadow and depth that shift across the leather in a way no batch process replicates. The surface looks discovered rather than applied, and it will continue to develop character with wear.

Built in Sydney at The Strand Arcade on last 7577, the boot is constructed with an all-leather interior and finished to Andrew McDonald's standard house specifications. Resoleable and made to last beyond any single season.
